The Foundation on Aging has been involved with the distribution of Holiday Gift Cards to needy seniors throughout Riverside County for several years. With funding support from the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, this program has proven to be successful. The Foundation purchases holiday gift cards from Stater Bros. and goes out to senior and community centers and distributes the cards at their holiday events.
This is a statement from one senior center director, “each senior citizen who received these gift cards were touched deeply. All expressed their gratitude, a few were brought to tears, and many said that the card was the only gift they would be receiving this holiday season.”
It has been reported that “nearly 2 in 5 seniors did not eat for a whole day because there was not enough money for food almost every month” (HARC Health Monitor Report 2010). It is for this reason that the Foundation will continue to focus on senior nutrition and again assist seniors during the Holidays.
The Foundation exists to provide support to the work of the Riverside County Office on Aging. With your help, the Foundation will continue to give gift cards that result in feeding hungry seniors during the holiday season in Riverside County.
Each year the Foundation on Aging continues to work to strengthen, expand and support senior programs and help make a difference in the lives of seniors in Riverside County. The Foundation is incorporated as a 501(c) (3) (Tax ID #20-1813339) and is completely funded through local donations.
